Adalbert Suchy (1783-1849) was born in the western Bohemian town of Švihov but spent most of his life in Vienna. With his perfect modulation of colour and precise rendering of details, his numerous portraits of unknown noblewomen and town officials represent the epitome of Czech miniature portraiture during the Empire period. Suchy’s oeuvre is characterised by his mastery of all formal means of miniature portrait painting.

Bedřich Diviš Weber (1766-1842) was a music composer and theorist and director of the Prague Conservatory.
